Sedation Gynecology
TENS therapy, heating pads, and cervical blocks are available at no extra charge. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is available for a $50 fee that covers your single-use mask. We build your comfort plan during your consultation — because comfort should be the baseline, not a luxury.
If you've been putting off a gynecology procedure because you're nervous about pain, you're not alone — and you have options.
What Is Sedation Gynecology?
Sedation gynecology means using proven pain management techniques — including nitrous oxide — during gynecological procedures so you're comfortable the entire time. It's an approach that recognizes what patients have been saying for years: these procedures shouldn't have to hurt.
At most gynecology practices, you might be told to take ibuprofen before your appointment. At Metro Area Advanced Practice Healthcare, we offer a full comfort protocol that goes far beyond that.
Our Comfort Protocol
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
The same safe, effective option used in dental offices. You breathe it in through a mask during your procedure, feel relaxed and calm, and it wears off within minutes. All patients who choose nitrous oxide are required to bring a driver. Available for a $50 fee that covers the required single-use mask.
TENS Therapy
A small device that sends gentle electrical pulses to block pain signals. It's applied to your skin during the procedure and many patients say it makes a significant difference. No extra charge.
Heating Pads
Applied to your abdomen during the procedure to relax muscles and ease cramping. A simple comfort measure that makes the experience feel more human. No extra charge.
Cervical Block
A local anesthetic injected near the cervix to numb the area before insertion or other procedures. Similar to the numbing shot you'd get at the dentist. No extra charge.
All four are available for every procedure visit. We build your comfort plan during your consultation so everything is ready on procedure day.
