Birth Control, by Telehealth

Pills, the patch, the ring, and the shot — prescribed and managed online by a certified nurse-midwife and women's health nurse practitioner whose entire practice is reproductive and gynecologic care.

One telehealth visit every 6 months keeps your prescription active. We bill most major insurance. If we're out of network for you, the visit is a flat $30.

What the Visit Costs

Two simple options. Pick whichever works for your situation.

If we take your insurance

We bill insurance

Under the ACA, contraceptive counseling and most birth control prescriptions are preventive care — covered with no out-of-pocket cost on most plans. We're in network with CareFirst, Anthem, BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, and UHC.

If we don't take your insurance

$30 per visit, cash pay

Flat $30 for the telehealth visit itself. One visit every 6 months keeps your prescription current — so most patients pay $60/year for the medical care.

One important note on the $30 option: that fee covers the provider visit only. The actual birth control medication is billed separately by your pharmacy and depends on the method, your pharmacy benefits, and whether you use a discount program like GoodRx. Generic pills are often $0–$15/month at most pharmacies even without insurance.

What We Can Prescribe by Telehealth

Anything that doesn't require an in-office procedure.

Birth control pills

Combined and progestin-only formulations. We'll work with you to find a pill that fits — and switch if the first one isn't right.

The patch

A weekly hormonal patch. Good if you don't want to think about a daily pill but still want to control timing.

The ring

A flexible monthly ring. Steady hormone levels, no daily dose to remember.

The shot (Depo)

Every 3 months. The self-injectable subcutaneous version (Depo-SubQ Provera) can be prescribed and shipped to you for at-home use.

Emergency contraception

Prescription-strength options when you need them. Same-day telehealth in most cases.

Refills and method switches

Already on something that's working? We'll refill it. Want to try something different? We'll talk through options and switch.

Want an IUD or Nexplanon?

Those are placed in person, with sedation comfort options including nitrous oxide. If you're local to the DC metro area, we'd love to see you for that.

Why Patients Pick Us for This

Birth control is supposed to be simple, but a lot of patients have stories about being rushed, dismissed, or pushed toward a method that didn't fit. We don't run visits like that.

Your provider is Ro Tucker, DNP, CNM, WHNP-BC — a certified nurse-midwife and women's health nurse practitioner whose entire clinical practice is reproductive and gynecologic health. The visit is long enough to actually cover your history, your goals, and any side effects you've had before. Same provider every time.
